SUMMARY:High Holy Days 5785
DESCRIPTION:Rosh Hashanah:\nWed. Oct. 2 at 6:00 p.m. (AY)\nThurs. Oct. 3 at
  9:15 a.m. (NSC)\nFri. Oct. 4 at 9:15 a.m. (NSC)\n\nYom Kippur:\nFri. Oct.
  11 at 5:45 p.m. (NSC)\nSat. Oct. 12 at 9:15 a.m. (NSC)\n\nFrom Cantor Ros
enblatt:\n\nDear Friends\,\n\nOver the past year\, I had the privilege of
learning and growing with Am Yisrael. I have shared new music with you\, l
earned your customs and traditions\, and more. I look forward to a bright
future with this warm community.\n\nDuring the month of Elul I do my most
meaningful professional and personal preparation for the year ahead. With
this in mind\, I would like to share a few of the new elements I plan to b
ring to Am Yisrael in the near future.\n\n1.Sunday Morning Minyan- On Sept
ember 8\, the first Sunday of SJS\, I plan to bring in guitar to our Sunda
y morning minyan services. The timing will remain a mere 30ish minutes! Pl
ease join us.\n\n2.High Holidays - This year\, we are excited to bring new
energy to the bimah. Many of our beloved melodies will continue to be pre
sent though the music for High Holidays this year will sound different. Ou
r soprano from the last few years\, Rachel Goodman\, will continue to sing
with us this year. We are excited to welcome two new vocalists\, Scott Sp
ector and Justin Berkowitz. Our congregant\, Jonah Greenthal\, will be acc
ompanying us on High Holidays as well.\n\nLast year\, Cantor Simon\, along
with choir members\, Peter Pohhammer and Fred Zimmerman retired from sing
ing and leading us for the High Holidays. Also\, Cantor Simon’s son\, Je
ff\, and nephew\, Rob\, have decided to no longer be leading Yigdal. We th
ank them all for their beautiful and long lasting contributions over the p
ast 40 years!\n\n3.New Tunes - During the month of Elul\, I enjoy sharing
thematic tunes. One is the Elul Niggun by Eitan Katz and the other is Acha
t Sha’alti (in Psalm 27) by Israel Katz. I hope you’ll join me in lear
ning them through the videos linked here and here.\n\nAs we prepare for th
e High Holidays and the beginning of the SJS year\, I look forward to dave
ning and singing with you soon. Be on the lookout for a few more recording
s of new tunes that you’ll hear during High Holidays in the weeks ahead.
\n\nIn this season of transition for Am Yisrael\, I am grateful to you all
for your trust in me as your new cantor.\n\nI look forward to seeing you
 soon.\n\nWarmly\,\nCantor Dara Rosenblatt\nMore melodies:\n\n[audio mp3="h
