DESCRIPTION:Professor Kwall will discuss the thesis of her widely acclaimed
  new book\, "Remix Judaism: Preserving Tradition in a Diverse World" as it
  applies to individuals\, parents and grandparents\, particularly those af
 filiated with Conservative Judaism\, seeking to deepen their connection to
  Jewish tradition outside of strict compliance with the rules of Jewish la
 w. Her book demonstrates how developing a richer set of culturally religio
 us norms in the home can provide a foundation for transmissible Jewish tra
 dition\, and invites readers to construct their own Jewish journeys with g
 reater mindfulness and intentionality.\n\nRoberta Rosenthal Kwall is the R
 aymond P. Niro Professor at DePaul University College of Law. She graduate
 d from the Brown University with a major in Religious Studies and the Univ
 ersity of Pennsylvania Law School. She also has a master’s degree in Jew
 ish Studies. Kwall is an internationally renowned scholar and lecturer and
  has written law school casebooks in property and intellectual property la
 w as well as over 30 scholarly articles and book chapters on a wide variet
 y of topics including Jewish law and culture\, authorship rights\, creativ
 ity theory\, intellectual property\, and women’s issues.\nKwall also has
  written three important monographs: “Remix Judaism: Preserving Traditio
 n in a Diverse World\,” (Rowman &amp\;amp\; Littlefield\, 2020)\; “The
  Myth of the Cultural Jew: Culture and\nLaw in Jewish Tradition” (Oxford
  UP\, 2015) and “The Soul of Creativity: Forging a Moral Rights Law for 
 the United States.” (Stanford UP\, 2010). Currently Kwall is co-editing 
 The Oxford Handbook of Jewish Law as well as writing an essay for this vol
 ume about lawmaking in the Conservative Movement.\nKwall has received nume
 rous awards for teaching and scholarship and in 2006\, was designated as o
 ne of the 10 Best Law Professors in Illinois by Chicago Lawyer magazine. S
 he also has taught at Tulane Law School and is a frequent visiting profess
 or at Reichman Law School in Israel where she teaches a course on The Amer
 ican Jewish Movements and Jewish law. Kwall is a keen observer of the Amer
 ican Jewish community and has also written numerous OpEds and articles on 
 topics of general interest. Her popular writings have appeared in The Wall
  Street Journal\, The Chicago Tribune and most of the major Jewish media v
 enues such as the Jewish Telegraphic Agency\, Commentary Magazine\, The Je
 rusalem Report\, The Jerusalem Post\, The Forward\, The Jewish Week\, The 
 Lehrhaus\, The Jewish Journal\, Kveller\, Sources Journal and eJewish Phil
 anthropy. She also has appeared on the popular podcast Unorthodox sponsore
 d by Tablet Magazine. Kwall is a frequent speaker about Jewish law and cul
 ture at synagogues and for Jewish organizations in the United States and I
