 aifeng: Yesterday and Today--A Lecture by Rabbi Anson Laytner\nThis lectur
 e introduces the fascinating history over a millennium of Jewish communiti
 es in China\, especially the Chinese Jews of Kaifeng\, which was the capit
 al city of China’s Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) and is in today’s 
 Henan province. It tells the story of how Jewish communities interacted wi
 th local cultures and life\, and their situation today. The story of the J
 ews of Kaifeng enriches our understanding of both Jewish and Chinese histo
 ries and cultures. The talk was hosted by the University of Washington’s
  Tateuchi East Asia Library on June 3\, 2021\, sponsored by the Friends of
  UW Libraries.
