Attending a B'nai Mitzvah at Am Yisrael

Am Yisrael is a Conservative congregation.

Practices may differ from Reform or Orthodox communities.

👔 Dress

Business casual is appropriate.

Kippot and tallitot are available.

Before You Arrive

Head Coverings

All men are asked to wear a kippah. Kippot are available at the entrance.

Prayer Shawls

Jewish men over Bar Mitzvah age wear a tallit. Women may wear one if they wish.

Scent-Reduced Facility

Am Yisrael is a scent-reduced facility. Please limit use of scented body products.

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited anywhere on Am Yisrael's campus.

During the Service

Phones

Please silence phones and avoid electronic devices.

Photography

Photography is not permitted on Shabbat.

Entering the Sanctuary

Please follow the ushers' instructions before entering.

Respecting Shabbat

Help preserve a peaceful worship environment.

Food & Drink

Please don't bring food, beverages, or gum into the sanctuary.

Standing & Sitting

Follow the congregation if you're unsure when to stand or sit.

Children are always welcome

What should I wear?

Business casual dress is appropriate.

No, everyone is welcome regardless of background.

Photography is not permitted during Shabbat services.

Our ushers will gladly guide you to appropriate seating.

The building is accessible. There is an elevator to help you navigate all floors of the building, as well as accessible seating provided during services. 

Numerous security measures are in place at all times. Local police patrol our facilities frequently, and we have consulted with them to ensure we are the most protected we can be. Please note, we do not allow guns on our premises.
