Repairing the World Through Service, Compassion, and Action
Am Yisrael’s Tikkun Olam Committee brings our values into action through volunteer service and charitable initiatives that strengthen our local and global communities.
Throughout the year, members participate in hands-on service opportunities, support humanitarian causes, and respond to community needs.
Our Tikkun Olam committee volunteers at the Beth Emet Soup Kitchen in Evanston several times a year. Each time, we have about 10-12 volunteers. We purchase the food in advance, then prepare and serve the meal. In order to pay for the food purchased, the cost per volunteer is about $30-40.

Co-sponsored a refugee family from Afghanistan through HIAS. The family arrived in January 2022 and settled into its new life with support from our congregation.
Our congregation’s participation in the refugee sponsorship program was covered by ABC News.
