Family Shabbat Services

  • Family Shabbat Services, formerly called Shabbat Family Programming, is one of the main vehicles to connect our synagogue families to one another in a meaningful way with Jewish life and learning at its center.  Attendance will become mandatory for our 1st through 7th grades after Winter Break.  Family Shabbat Services is a critical part of our School of Jewish Studies (SJS) Jewish education curriculum.
  • Family Shabbat Services will take place in the Social Hall from 10:15 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
  • In order to maintain proper social distancing, we will divide Family Shabbat Service into two groups of 1st through 7th graders.
  • Please click this link to find your group (different groups listed in two separate tabs):
  • Group #1 dates: November 20, January 15, February 5, April 9 and May 21.
  • Group #2 dates: December 4, January 22, February 26, April 30 and May 14.
  • Everyone who is eligible must be vaccinated to attend Family Shabbat Services in-person.
  • Please note that upon our return from Winter Vacation, Wed Jan 5, children under 12 will no longer be exempt from the vaccine requirement. At that time, all 5-11 year olds must be fully vaccinated (two weeks post-second vaccination shots) to attend Services, SJS, Family Services, classes, programs, etc. in person.
  • Masks will be required of everyone in the building.
  • If you or anyone in your family is not feeling well, please stay home.

Mr. Charlie Sherman and Mr. E. Marc Nevins co-lead a family-friendly, spirited prayer service.  Rabbi Newman Kamin delivers a D’var Torah.  Torah Chanting is one of the core components of Family Shabbat Services.  We have dozens of students and their family members who have chanted verses of Torah at Family Shabbat Services and on Torah-based Jewish holidays over the years.

Todah Rabbah (Thank you),
