Family Shabbat Services

  • Family Shabbat Services, formerly called Shabbat Family Programming, is one of the main vehicles to connect our synagogue families to one another in a meaningful way with Jewish life and learning at its center.  Attendance for our 1st through 7th grades is mandatory.  Family Shabbat Services is a critical part of our School of Jewish Studies (SJS) Jewish education curriculum.
  • Mr. Charlie Sherman and Mr. E. Marc Nevins co-lead a family-friendly, spirited prayer service.  Rabbi Newman Kamin delivers a D’var Torah.  Torah Chanting is one of the core components of Family Shabbat Services.  We have dozens of students and their family members who have chanted verses of Torah at Family Shabbat Services and on Torah-based Jewish holidays over the years.

  • In order to maintain proper social distancing, we will divide Family Shabbat Service into two groups of 1st through 7th graders.
  • Everyone who is eligible must be vaccinated to attend Family Shabbat Services in-person.
  • All children 5 years and older must be fully vaccinated (two weeks post-second vaccination shots) to attend Services, SJS, Family Services, classes, programs, etc. in person.
  • Masks are required of everyone in the building.
  • If you or anyone in your family is not feeling well, please stay home.
