Parking, Arrival, & Accessibility

Parking

At Am Yisrael, you can find parking in the synagogue parking lot, as well as the New Trier parking lots across the street and adjacent to the synagogue. VIP parking is available for those with limited accessibility. Staff will be on hand to help direct parking. Please follow their directions.

For services at the North Shore Center, please refer to their website for information on parking and directions.

Accessibility

Accessible seats at Am Yisrael will be reserved for those who need them. If you occupy an accessible seat without needing it, be prepared to give it up. Unless you require an aisle seat, please choose empty seats toward the middle of the row.

Security

Safety remains our highest priority. We have consulted with the ADL, local police, the Secure Community Network of JUF, and neighboring congregations. Tickets will be checked and stubs collected at all services. Additional security measures, visible and otherwise, are in place. In the event of an emergency, staff will provide direction. If you notice anything concerning, please report it immediately to an usher.

Entering the Building

For services at Am Yisrael, you may enter the building through the front doors facing Happ Road.

For services at the North Shore Center, please use the entrance at the Box Office lobby, located on the North side of the building located next to the DoubleTree Hotel and adjacent to the main parking area. More information is available on the North Shore Center website.

Those who require accessible parking may also use North Shore Center’s accessible East side entrance, located at the Gulf Road side of the building. 

FAQs

Do I need tickets?

Yes, everyone who plans on joining High Holy Day services will be expected to have tickets.

High Holy Day tickets will be mailed to you after you complete your membership kit. Please note, we cannot send tickets to those who have not returned their membership kits. 

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring guests! When you complete your membership kit, there is a space to let us know if you would like guest tickets, and how many you are requesting. Please note, in order to bring a guest, you must purchase guest tickets when you fill out your membership form.

For High Holy Day services (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur), the general expectation is dressier than typical Shabbat attire.

For men: Suit or sport coat with dress pants, dress shirt, tie is common. 

For women: Dresses, skirts, or dressy pantsuits. 

Please arrive in time for the start of the service. If you require extra assistance, please let us know and arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can make sure to accommodate you!

Non-members may only attend services if they have tickets. Tickets for non-members may be purchased by members when they complete their membership kits.
