Holy City Hotspot: Exploring Jerusalem’s Acropolis
At the heart of Jerusalem lies the enormous platform that Jews call the Temple Mount and Muslims name the Noble Sanctuary. Created by a succession of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim rulers, it has more recently emerged as a central stage for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. What do we know about the development of the city’s acropolis? New research provides a fresh view on the evolution of this important and disputed ancient site.
